sounds interesting and worthy, I might drop in for a look, but it's underway, I follow link and hit a registration form, and…the currents turn awry. I wonder, regularly, why not just hook the stream to YouTube, for much higher accessibility and usability?

I agree — as with recording meetings or events, I think it should be discussed by group first, and done with consent or notification. Incidentally I've long been gathering such points for a handbook #WebinarGuide / #WebforumGuide, I tag them to later add, and invite other suggestion.
