Une paire de prototypes de Boeing E-7A avertissement précoce et de contrôle (AEW&C) aéroporté sur commande pour l’US Air Force (USAF) subira des travaux de modification au Royaume-Uni, profitant d’une capacité industrielle existante. Annonçant l’arrangement le 18 septembre, alors que le président américain Donald Trump a terminé une visite d’État au Royaume-Uni, le ministère de la Défense (MOD) a déclaré que deux 737 subiraient une modification sur un site à Birmingham, où STS Aviation Services travaille déjà sur un trio de e-7a Wedgetails pour la Royal Force aérienne du Royaume-Uni (RAF). Après son arrivée au Royaume-Uni, les bornes étroites «vertes» Ng subiront des travaux approfondis, y compris l’installation du radar distinctif de Northrop Grumman Mesa du Wedgetail, monté au-dessus du fuselage.
