A depiction of the Réunion Owl, which became extinct before it could be properly described. So maybe an imagining of the bird. It's a bluey sort-of grey and white, it has two feather 'horns' or 'ears' atop its head, and it has a slightly tinged facial disk with yellow eyes. It looks at us, seemingly surprised, up there among the leaves on the branch of a tree. The style is quite broad and dreamy (in a #VanGogh-like kinda way), yet the detail is still great. A belter.

We have an owl. A bloody great big owl. Absolute unit. Grey shades all over, except for a curve of sandy brown over its left shoulder. It is in flight, going from our right to our left, filling the frame with wings curved on the downbeat. Its body is patterned - just beyond speckled, but not quite spotted. Its great white disk of a face looks at us, as if it were shocked to see us a moment ago, but is now over it. A grey fringe around the chin and cheeks. Grey eyeshadow. And grey nosebridge leading down into a black and grey beak. It is a convincing but artistic rendition of an owl, and I love it.

As #SheffieldWednesday are playing today, I thought an #owl might be appropriate.
