The water’s seven degrees and not even I’m daft enough to be braving that but it’s hard to imagine more perfect kite-flying weather. #WeePferd had her first ever go and is, rightly, very proud of herself.
Working at home. Kids came home with their friends. Current sources of noise are:
- two kids fighting
- two others talking at extreme volume
- a CD player
- a Toniebox
- the radio I had on
- my wife and the friends' Ma chatting
- #WeePferd hitting a toy broom off a door

Overnight, somehow, #WeePferd has developed a little cut on the bridge or her nose, as all good backrowers should.
Got my hair cut today. First thing as soon as I’m in the door and have my helmet off, #WeePferd goes, “Papa, your hair looks funny,” so I guess that’s me looking for a new barber.
Brother-in-law went back for a third when his (previously) youngest was 14. There's always time, Steve... Although I can't recommend it. Even going back in for #WeePferd when #BabyPferd was 4 was a brutal, eye-opening experience! 😂

#WeePferd has a friend coming over this afternoon and she’s running around cleaning up and genuinely doing a good impression of being an anxious adult before the dinner guests arrived. I think it’s worn off on me ‘cos I am definitely into the realms of stress baking, here.
Me: “What would you like for breakfast, #WeePferd?”
#WeePferd: “Cup in the eye!”
Me: “Erm…”
(I assume she means eggs in a cup, with the German word for egg being ‘Ei’).
Planned a perfect day with #WeePferd. Museum to see the dinosaurs, lunch in my favourite pizza place, then home for the rugby.
Dinosaurs were scary and the salami on her pizza was too oval.
If these are the omens, prepare yourself for an utterly diabolical performance, Ulster fans… #SCAvULS
The nice thing about the EPCR TV screen is that you get a bit of the stadium filling up before the commentators start their chat. #WeePferd absolutely loved La Peña Baiona before kick-off and is roaming around singing it. Jeez, rugby’s a powerful drug isn’t it! #BAYvLEI

#WeePferd is proving quite picky but she loves beans and this is a great way to get them into her with a decent amount of veg hidden around them 🤣

Fucking hell. Even #WeePferd isn’t that bad 😂😂😂. #BabyPferd eats basically everything. Olives and all.
Might have to do my own in future but unfortunately, #WeePferd likes nothing at the moment apart from Käsespätzle, so might wait a bit before deciding what our favourites actually were.
Of our all time daft ideas, waking up a 2-year-old at 02:30am to get a 6am flight is definitely amongst the daftest. #WeePferd so delirious she’s having a full on chat with someone or something that isn’t visible… 👻
So, #WeePferd, utterly lacking any lived memory or abstract conceptualisation of Hallowe’en is massively confused about why we now have massive decorative vegetables kicking about and even more baffled about why #BabyPferd seems very excited about the whole thing.
Shout out to the Berlin garbage collectors. Can't imagine it's fun to have an idiot and his kids gawp at you while you do tough, tiring work but every single one we meet couldn't be friendlier. Especially the lad who gave a rather sad, ill #WeePferd some stickers this morning. Perked her right up.
Probably should have given the rehab of the starter another day or two and I got distracted and left it on the first rise far too long but this is decent and #WeePferd, who is by far our pickiest eater, is wolfing it down, which is all you can ask for.
#WeePferd (almost 3) absolutely loves her Smartmax magnet toys and a cursory look tells me that Hamleys - the most obvious place I could think to check in central London - stocks them. Not sure if they might seem a bit babyish from three onwards, but she shows no sign of getting bored of them yet.
#WeePferd just reached over to the plate #MrsPferd was eating from, nicked a big wedge of potato, and went, "Yoink!" and now I'm in trouble because I laughed, since a two-year-old doing a "Yoink!" is objectively hilarious, thus accidentally encouraging a continuation of that sort of carry on.
Finally a chance to sit down and watch some #RWC2025. #WeePferd snuggled up beside me just on time to see that stunning Fiji try!
Between them, #BabyPferd and #WeePferd appear to be doing everything they can to get puke, pee, poo or mucus on every soft furnishing in our holiday let. Rugs. Sofa. Bed clothes. Patio furniture cushions. Only the curtains left and there’s always tomorrow…
Today I learned the peril of carrying #WeePferd on my shoulders while she eats a Chupa Chups lolly. Stuck to the hair. Ripped back out. On repeat.
First trip across the country to the sea where #WeePferd is big enough to see out of the windows and it’s a whole trip punctuated by excited gibberish about everything…
Good luck with it. Wishing you much patience. Had one of these shortly after #WeePferd was born and my blood pressure was through the roof because I wasn't getting any sleep... And, boy, did it not help with the getting sleep...
The major problem is #BabyPferd is already way too big for the trailer, but we can kind of coax her in for the Kindergarten trip, as #WeePferd is going to the same place. Next year, when she's in school and going a different way... no chance! Maybe I'll just put the bells on her bike 🤣
Ooooh, that's dangerous. Did my parental leave with #WeePferd in November and December. Was far, far too easy to fall into going for a walk, going past several christmas markets and sinking about four mulled wines along the route... 🥴
Didn’t see any of the rugby today. Getting withdrawal!
Happily, so far, we’ve caught all the ticks before they could get far enough in to be a problem. But our family has ~90 years of combined experience of not getting bitten by ticks and poor #WeePferd has had like 10 incidents already!
