Taken on 6 October 2012 with a Nikon D7000. Gravesend's West Street 'pier' and pontoon on the River Thames. Landscape format. Two halves, top and bottom. The top shows a bright sky with puffy clouds and Tilbury B power station, on the north bank of the river. The power station has since been demolished and replaced by a facility for roll on roll off cargo ships and dredgers. Lower half: mainly a pontoon landing stage, reached by a bridge. Several boats are moored there: from left, Duchess M, the (then) Gravesend to Tilbury ferry, with blue hull and white superstructure; to its right, Princess Pocahontas, a pleasure cruiser that would do ferry duties when Duchess M was maintained. To the left again and below Duchess M, a small tug, Viking II. Then the various structures on the pontoon (an office/hut principally) and two small workboats moored to the pontoon's shore side and finally a barge, also named Princess Pocahontas. Princess Pocahontas, sadly, died in Gravesend. To the far right and partly obscured by the bridge is the Gravesend Town Pier. As at today's date (15 January 2025) the sky, river and pier remain, everything else being elsewhere or demolished.
