Image of the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant that has a circular shape. It is composed of several sections. On the right is the Western Veil Nebula, which starts at a point near the top, and expands toward the bottom before it splits into two distinct tails. The Eastern Veil Nebula is in the left and bears a close resemblance to the head and face of the Xenomorph from the movie, "Alien."

The Cygnus Loop is a near-circular remnant of a super-nova explosion. One portion of it is called the Eastern Veil Nebula and I liken it to the Xenomorph from the movie, "Alien." Imaging details in Alt text. #cygnusloop #veilnebula #westernveilnebula #eastrnveilnebula #astrophotography #science 🧪🔭

NGC 6960 Western Veil Nebula - telescope processed image. A beautiful section of the Cygnus Loop supernova remnant, NGC 6960 is nicknamed the "Witch's Broom" for its delicate, long, and wispy filaments.

NGC 6960 Western Veil Nebula - unprocessed image. NGC 6960 is the "Witch's Broom" Nebula! A bright, unrelated foreground star, 52 Cygni, sits right in the middle, looking like the broom's stick.

The star 52 Cygni - telescope processed image. 52 Cygni is a giant star in the constellation Cygnus, the swan. It's a moderately bright star visible to the naked eye and is approximately 206 light-years away. Although it appears to be located within the Western Veil Nebula, it is not physically associated with it and is much closer to Earth.

The star 52 Cygni - unprocessed image. Even though it looks like it's inside the Veil Nebula, 52 Cygni is actually a foreground star, much closer to Earth than the nebula itself.

Tried for the #WesternVeilNebula this morning; no success. Nice image of the #star #52Cygni though. #unistellar #odysseypro #space #astronomy #amateur
