I did something last night. Set the s50 to do mosaics of #Caldwell33 #TheEasternVeilNebula , #SH2-103 #CygnusLoop and #NGC6960 #TheWesternVeilNebula. Each mosaic was for 2:20 in duration. Using Affinity Photo on my iPad I made the following. #seestar #S50 #space #astronomy #amateur

NGC 6960 Western Veil Nebula - telescope processed image. A beautiful section of the Cygnus Loop supernova remnant, NGC 6960 is nicknamed the "Witch's Broom" for its delicate, long, and wispy filaments.

Taken with a 3" APO AT80EDT
ZWO ASI2600 Duo 120s 15 subs for 30 min
AM5N Mount

Processed with:

GraXpert, Cosmic Clarity/Seti Astro, GIMP

It constitutes the visible portions of the Cygnus Loop, a supernova remnant, many portions of which have acquired their own individual names and catalogue identifiers. The source supernova was a star 20 times more massive than the Sun which exploded between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago. At the time of the explosion, the supernova would have appeared brighter than Venus in the sky, and visible in the daytime.

Located 2400 ly away

A stunning image of the western Veil Nebula (NGC 6960), also known as the Witch's Broom Nebula. This supernova remnant, located 1400 light-years away in Cygnus, is the result of a stellar explosion that occurred 10,000 years ago. The vibrant colors are caused by the interaction of the expanding gas with surrounding material. The nebula spans more than three times the angular size of the full moon.

A stunning telescopic image of the Witch's Broom Nebula (NGC 6960), a western segment of the Veil Nebula, a supernova remnant approximately 1400 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. The image showcases glowing filaments of atomic hydrogen (red) and oxygen (blue-green) gas, resulting from a cataclysmic stellar explosion 10,000 years ago. The bright star, 52 Cygni, is visible in the frame. The nebula spans about 35 light-years.

De Sluiernevel #NGC6960 is het resultaat van een supernova-explosie die tussen 5.000 en 8.000 jaar geleden plaatsvond op een afstand van 1.470 lichtjaar van onze aarde in sterrenbeeld Zwaan.
