A female hand rests on a piece of tin foil, on an old stone bridge that's covered in lichens. The foil shows an impression of a carving of a hand, a bit bigger than Kathryn's hand. The stream flowing under the bridge can be seen in the top third of the photograph.
Well that's not something I've done before! Rubbing foil in to old carvings - to understand their lines. The carvings are near impossible to see except in bright sun!
On old bridges on the historic location of Westings Meadow (a long-forgotten place).

It's been a cold and misty March Monday on #Langdyke's Vergette Nature Reserve... this place is on the historic location of an inter-commonable meadow, shared between surrounding villages for hundreds of years. So far, the earliest reference to #WestingsMeadow we've found is from 1263!!!
A female hand rests on a stone bridge. Her fingers are linked with an old carving of a hand. Below the bridge is a narrow stream. The bridge has patches of white and gold lichen growing over the carvings.
It's like shaking hands with the past!
And low winter sun is perfect for seeing the C18/19th bridge carvings on #WestingsMeadow!

Ice-drawn petals...
Found in a place once known, for hundreds of years, as Westings Meadow.

Photograph of a frosty grassy path in the countryside. There's an oak tree on the left and the sky is blue with high white clouds.
Photograph of a frosty teasels in the countryside. The sun is in the sky, hidden by high white clouds
Photograph of a line of alder trees. There's a bank of brambles in front of them. The trees are loosing their leaves
Two willow trees stand side by side. Their leaves are falling. The sun peeps through the branches behind.
The light was beautiful on #WestingsMeadow this morning! I found ice-drawn petals in the puddles. And listened to crisp autumn Alder leaves rattle down from branch to twig to trunk, and gentle pings of falling Willow leaves.

Digital collage - layered images of young trees and pale gold reeds against a dove grey sky. By Kathryn Parsons
Westings Meadow felt quiet and the air soft, as I walked under dove grey skies.
