Just started to catalogue a collection of maps and charts from the William Scoresby Jr papers at #WhitbyMuseum , which means that learning all those 19th-C. Arctic geographical terms in my third year of uni has finally paid off!

Anglo-Saxon book fittings with impressive interlace. Can only imagine how precious the book they adorned would be now had it survived!

Slab fragment quarried near the cliff of Whitby Abbey, late c.8th, early c.9th. May have formed part of a shrine. A quadruped stands next to the stump a a tree.

Recent pilgrimage to #WhitbyMuseum to view some of their lovely Anglo-Saxon exhibits. Everytime I get down to Yorkshire, I try to visit a different early medieval survival.
