The philosophical anarchist #WilliamGodwin (1756-1836) became Office Keeper and Yeoman Usher in the Receipt of the Exchequer in 1833, residing at 13 New Palace Yard. His duties included payment of the tradesmen, security of the Tally court – & upkeep of the fire-fighting equipment. 1/2
