I ended up moving the (second) WiFi access point so that my laptop has MUCH better connection.
#CachyOS is now content... and lo and behold! my connection to #SecondLife stabilizes as well!
Just shows how garbage Windows is, and how I'm glad to be #WindowsFree #MicrosoftFree
I love how FAST #CachyOS boots on my laptop.
Like, so fast that I don't mind rebooting to test things. And reboot again if I want to undo the things.
It boots, like, an order of magnitude -- or two -- faster than Windows 10 Pro ever could.

My laptop is now #MicrosoftFree #WindowsFree
Like, I zapped the partition table and recreate a GPT (the GUID kind, not the Ay kind) one.
Totally not going back.
I use Arch btw. #CachyOS to be exact.
On the #PersonalSystem front:
I've successfully booted the #CachyOS Live ISO! No problems, it even detects my wireless mouse and my fingerprint reader.
And it connects to the Internet as well!
Meaning that this weekend I should be able to start my migration away from Windows.
#WindowsFree
The only hangups I have left with dropping Windows are the use of mod managers and 3rd party tools.
The Dawn of War Mod Manager is a bit of a hassle. And I straight-up can't get Archipelago to work with my StarCraft 2 install.

@kde.org
Today marks officially 4 months running in a non-Windows/Mac environment. Thank you so much for KDE Neon. It's been absolutely wonderful on my setup. Have also convinced a few friends to make the switch after showing them how easy it is to customize! #Linux #LinuxGaming #KDE #WindowsFree
Convinced a friend to give KDE Neon a shot this weekend. I sold him with wobbly windows and the discover store. #Linux #WindowsFree #KDENeon
And come mid-2025, I'll be Microsoft-free as well as I reformat my laptop and zap the 'disk' and go full Linux with no dual boot!
#WindowsFree #MicrosoftFree
I think I'm 99% all the way into ditching Windows 11 for KDE Neon and Linux as a whole. I'm only having some minor issues with running certain mod launchers and Monster Hunter Wilds. Otherwise I haven't touched Windows in months. #WindowsFree #LinuxGaming #MonsterHunter #KDE

Hmm... What else?
I think these 7 already cover the great majority of my Serious Computer Usage.
Feel free to pipe up with what else I have left out, and I'll extend the thread!

6) PDF Manipulation
Not yet sure about this one.
But I can always run PDF-Xchange in Wine.
7) Programming
All JetBrains IDE has native Linux version. I will have to learn JetBrains Rider in place of Visual Studio, but I'm already familiar with PyCharm anyways.

4) Office Productivity
LibreOffice + web-based
Both of them are Good Enough™ for my needs. And the web-version of MS365 is actually very advanced.
5) Video Editing
KDEnlive. There are many other Linux-native video editors, but KDEnlive is my choice.

2) Gaming
Steam + Proton of course.
By mid-2025 I reckon Proton will be Good Enough to run 99% of my games very well.
3) Image Processing
Krita.
I've been using Krita for years and it's might Good Enough™ for my needs.
🧵...
Here's my #WindowsFree plan that I expect to already be in place on October 2025.
1) OS
Linux, of course. Probably gonna use Manjaro or EndeavourOS. Although Bazzite also looks nice, but I prefer Arch to Fedora.
Or maybe I'll just use KDE Neon. Already had good experience with it.
