The auto brightness added in 0.51 saw some improvements. We now remember a user set offset across reboots and also compensate for night light automatically (as contrast is reduced under red shift at low brightness for the human 👁️).
We also fixed several bugs in volume control selection related […]

If there are any Linux audioheads out there looking for a great Pipewire\Wireplumber management tool with a very nice UI, preset mgmt, and a great patching interface, I can highly recommend Cable by Magillos - def worth checking out.🐧

@phosh #wireplumber 0.5.13 🙏 containing the necessary changes was released a couple of days ago and is already in #Debian 🙏 so I built feedbackd with `DEB_BUILD_PROFILES=pkg.feedbackd.media-roles`, installed the result and from a quick test is seems to be working nicely.
The next #pipewire […]
I recently joined Brodie Robertson on the TechOverTea podcast to discuss #WirePlumber and its journey from Automotive Grade Linux to becoming the standard #PipeWire session manager across #Linux distros, among many other topics!
Enjoy listening and let me know what more you'd like me to talk about!
#feedbackd now ships a media role configuration to separate audio volumes but it is not installed by default yet as this will need #wireplumber 0.5.13 to work properly. You can try it out by building feedbackd with the `-Dmedia-roles=true` option. Feedback appreciated (pun intended 🙃) […]
With some #wireplumber changes landing we're a big step closer to enabling separate volume controls for things like media, alerts, alarms, etc. in #Phosh. Here's a short overview on the current state: https://phosh.mobi/posts/role-based-routing/

The first day of @gstreamer.org is here and there are already big decisions to make!
Will you catch Julian Bouzas' talk at 13:15 UTC on #WirePlumber challenges or Daniel Morin's talk on advancing #GstAnalytics? Also at 13:15 UTC.
There are no wrong answers, enjoy the conference!

If, after an upgrade, your #sound suddenly refuses to work with an error that no such sound profile is available - forget all the internet stuff about random #bluetooth, #pulseaudio or #pipewire and other stuff. Try deleting `.config/wireplumber/wireplumber.conf` first, it might just be an old […]
PSA for #Sxmo users:
"Wireplumber 0.5.11 just get released. It includes new hooks that toggle
the audio call profile automatically. This conflict with our usage of
callaudiod.
This means the audio over call is broken now on Edge with Pipewire. I
recommend to not upgrade your system for some […]

#linux

A screenshot of Phosh's mobile settings app. It shows different volume sliders for media, alarm, notifications, ringtones and emergency alerts.
·..and here's how the volume controls currently look in mobile settings. We get the list of controls from #wireplumber too and
#phosh's volume slider gets the highest priority volume so the top panels' volume slider does "the right thing" by default.
With the alarm clock waking the phone from suspend we still need to make sure the alarm sound is audible. We thus need it to have a volume level separate from e.g. media, notifications, calls, etc. This is possible with #wireplumber's "role based policy". There's […]

💡 Curious about customizing #WirePlumber for embedded systems? I wrote a blog post breaking down the config structure, with tips from a real-world project.
✅ Learn to
- Use profiles + fragments for easy customization
- Strip down features for leaner setups
- Avoid pitfalls with desktop dependencies
Wireplumber is the session manager for @pipewire, helping to provide stability and flexibility to your Linux system. You can also do scripting with Lua!

After long lasting struggles (I am not fond of #LInuxAudio) #Pulseaudio #Pipewire #Wireplumber, adding a ~/.config/wireplumber/wireplumber.conf.d/foo.conf seems to have worked with reversing my stereo channels, see bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.ph... for inspiration (at the end of the thread). 🤦
Successfully built and set up #pipewire with #mediasession for my custom #mimicOS #linux distro. Yay, I've got sound now!
However, #wireplumber still fails to cooperate - will need more research and debugging. Such a tiresome piece of software...
This is the time to update ArchWiki's WirePlumber page If anyone want to.
- #wireplumber bump v0.4.17 -> v0.4.81 as a preliminary release of v0.5.0.
- In v0.5.0, Lua config support will be remove and only use SPA-JSON to configure.
