Hanau was not an isolated case.** On February 19, 2020, nine people were murdered for racist motives. Many others were injured and traumatized. Ibrahim Akkuş initially survived the attack and died as a result of it in 2026. To this day, families and survivors are fighting for clarification, justice and consequences. Warning signs were ignored. Protection was absent. Racist terror does not emerge in a vacuum. It stands in a continuity of right-wing violence and policies that normalize exclusion. To remember means to name. To remember means to change.
Racism kills. Solidarity protects.** Hanau reminds us to make racist continuities visible and to confront them decisively. We stand with the families and survivors. We demand full clarification and real consequences. Join the memorial events across Germany. Show solidarity.
