“Hans and Sophie Scholl were arrested by the Gestapo on February 18, 1943, at the University of Munich after being caught distributing anti-Nazi leaflets. They, along with Christoph Probst, were tried and executed by guillotine on February 22 for high treason. Alexander Schmorell (who co-founded the White Rose resistance with Hans Scholl), their philosophy professor Kurt Huber, and Hans Konrad Leipelt were also executed. Hans Hirzel, Susanne Hirzel, Franz Josef Müller, Heinrich Guter, Eugen Grimminger, Otto Aicher, Theodor Haecker, Willi Graf, Anneliese Graf, Heinrich Bollinger, Helmut Bauer, Gisela Schertling, Katharina Schüddekopf, Traute Lafrenz, and Falk Harnack were arrested and tried, with all sent to prison except Falk Harnack. Willi Graf was tortured for 7 months to give up the names of other White Rose members. He never did. Graf was executed on October 12th 1943.”
