Few places on earth have given me the same raw energy as Wistman’s Wood in Dartmoor. The walk there feels like stepping away from the world—quiet, solitary—and then, when the forest finally appears, it takes your breath away.

We are in a very special wood that is so old it is called eyn-shunt. It is mostly oak-y trees with lots of moss and lye-ken.

#wistmanswood lies on the Eastern slopes of the river Dart in the Dartmoor National Park, #devon. This ancient woodland is important for the mosses and lichens that cover the trees and granite boulders scattered on the forest floor.
