Me and my bf did a ten mile #walk around #DartmoorNationalPark today. The highlight was seeing a little grebe and two male pied flycatchers. I will upload the birds when there is an appropriate BOTD theme.

Snowdrops and daffodils both in flower at the same time in the garden. Not a common sight. Taken on 24.02.2026. It shows how fast Sun and mild weather makes the snowdrop flowers go over.

As it is the last day of February (28th) I decided to look in a small #snowdrop reserve in #DartmoorNationalPark. Most had gone over but there were a few patches left here and there. It is an early #Spring. #FairMaidsOfFebruary The 3rd photo was taken in the garden just four days ago. #flowers

The Common stonechat (Saxicola torquatus) is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List with a stable population trend. It is found throughout Europe, huge swathes of Asia and large areas of Africa. Their preferred habitat is heathland with gorse as can be seen here with a male perched on a gorse branch. It mainly consumes invertebrates but will also eat fruit and seeds. It is a partial migrant.

I topped up the sunflower heart feeder first thing in the morning and it was nearly empty by late afternoon. These two siskins are battling it out whilst one watches.
