Photo of a Marsh Tit (Poecile palustris) perched on the top rail of a wooden fence, on which a peanut and a few Sunflower seed hearts or kernals have been placed. The bird is facing towards the right side of the picture, and he or she has a sunflower seed heart held in their beak. Tits are part of a family of birds which in North America are known as Titmice or Chickadees. Like other Tits, the Marsh Tit is a small bird. The top half of the head, the eyes, the short beak, and a small patch on the throat are all black. Each side of the face below the eye is white, the chest is whitish and the rest of the underparts are a pale buff colour. The back, wings, and the relatively short tail are mostly various shades of brown, or grey. The legs and feet are grey.
