Composta por pequenas pinceladas ou marcas de tinta que são predominantemente curtas, como traços ou blocos de formato irregular, dispostos bem próximos uns dos outros, cobrindo completamente a tela. A pintura parece ter muitas partes fazendo com que as cores pareçam transparentes ou em camadas. Há cores que se encontram e se misturam no centro. O terço esquerdo tem pequenos traços vermelhos escuros, misturados com marcas de marrom e alguns toques de amarelo e verde. No centro e pelo canto inferior, traços de tinta azul escura e verde escura, que se misturam no centro-inferior com traços de vermelho, resultando em uma área escura. A área superior direita e grande parte do centro-direito é preenchida por traços de verde claro, verde limão e amarelo. Sobre todas essas áreas de pequenos traços coloridos, há a presença proeminente de contornos de grandes formas circulares que passam uma leve impressão de serem um pouco transparentes ou levemente coloridas, que às vezes se sobrepõem aos traços de cor por baixo. As bordas deles são definidas por linhas finas de cor vermelha clara e eles se sobrepõem às marcas vermelhas e marrons por baixo. Outro grande círculo ou a metade de um, é de traços amarelos e verdes, no centro-direito, contornado mais levemente. Um aglomerado de círculos sobrepostos está no centro, em azul, vermelho e verde. Uma composição de pequenos traços de cor contrastante (principalmente vermelho/marrom, azul/verde e amarelo/verde-claro) com grandes formas circulares e transparentes sobrepostas que cruzam e unem as diferentes seções de cor. É uma obra muito colorida e vibrante.

Rix Nicholas was one of the first Australians to paint post-impressionist landscapes, was made a member of the Société des Peintres Orientalistes Français, and had works hung in the Paris Salon in 1911 and 1913. The family evacuated from France to England following the start of World War I. A period of personal tragedy followed, as Rix's sister died in 1914, then her mother in 1915. In 1916 she met and married George Matson Nicholas, only to be widowed the next month when he was killed on the Western Front. – Wikipedia

Gwen John was a Welsh artist who worked in France for most of her career. Her paintings, mainly portraits of anonymous female sitters, are rendered in a range of closely related tones. Although in her lifetime, John's work was overshadowed by that of her brother Augustus and her mentor and lover Auguste Rodin, awareness and esteem for John's artistic contributions has grown considerably since her death. -Wikipedia
