I keep hearing people talking about #Microsoft killing off #WordPad. I have to be honest, #WordPad is an application I haven't thought about since trying to use it on #Windows98 SE back in 2003, and hating it.

Wow. I almost had a meltdown. I went to open #WordPad (which I write in because it's so simple it's not distracting) and it wasn't there! But luckily I managed to hunt it down on the interwebs, but wtf @microsoft.com why get rid of WordPad of all things? WHAT HAS IT DONE TO YOU??

Gotta vent: The new #WindowsUpdate removed #WordPad from my laptop. It's my go-to writing software for anything I don't want to use Scrivener for and I am DEEPLY annoyed. I downloaded and reinstalled it immediately but this did not spark joy. Rude, Windows. Very rude.

Annoyed that #Wordpad is missing from #Windows11? Well, thankfully you can find the Wordpad files and "add" them back into Windows 11.
Easiest way is to grab them from either another computer that has Windows 10 *or* an older build of Windows 11 (earlier than 24H2). You can find them in:

If you updated from Windows 10 to 11 and you need Wordpad for RTF files, just look for the Windows.old folder in the drive root directory, and inside this, there is a folder Accessories containing Wordpad. #windows #wordpad

If you're trying to install #Windows11version24H2 update and it's a struggle and you're short on space, remember that #WindowsMail, #WindowsCalendar and #Wordpad are all going to be removed automatically, you can make space by uninstalling them in advance.
