#CliffWeitzman ‘s thus far extremely dismissive response toward the authors whose copyright he violated, and his subsequent attempts to quietly bury #Speechify ‘s advertising of #WordStream, raise significant concerns about Speechify’s business practices and overall integrity.
In December 2024, #Speechify's CEO #CliffWeitzman scraped stories from #AO3 without authors' permission and put them on his new, for-profit platform #WordStream. When faced with backlash from the fan community, Weitzman quickly hid these works from public view. 🧵
Wordstream supposedly took down my fic after many reports and emails, but as you can see, it still shows up on their website with a simple google search:
Basically, they actually didn’t remove it—they just hid it from view. Really frustrating.
Who else had their work stolen?

Day 23 of #24adventthings: The sweetest thing I've probably ever written is this #renga #sk8 fic, where Reki and Langa discover kinks, make out beneath a skateboard track, and fall even more in love. (Also, sorry for all the fics being locked; some of my stuff got posted on that #wordstream site.)
