Farmers gather in Brussels to demand an End to the Cage Age Farmers from across Europe came to the European Commission on March 25 – World Cage Free Day – to join campaigners in calling for a ban on cages.

It was a pleasure to attend the #EndTheCageAge coalition's "farmers' market" outside the @ec.europa.eu on #WorldCageFreeDay! ⛓️‍💥🐓

Bringing together farmers, citizens and policy-makers, the event highlighted the benefits of going #CageFree, and the necessity of a cage ban in the EU:

Today, together with @eurogroupforanimals.org, @fourpawsint.bsky.social, and @ciwf.eu, we began a 190-day countdown to the EU’s promised modernisation of animal protection laws.

@ec.europa.eu committed to proposing new legislation, including a ban on cages, by the end of 2026.
