Full page document recording the vow of a nun, written in Latin in a round calligraphic script. The left-hand side of the document is decorated with a colourful border. The text includes several illuminated initials. The first word of the document - 'Ego - includes an historiated initial for the letter E, which contains a tiny illustration of Bridgettine nun - possibly St Bridget of Sweden - reading.

To mark her profession in religion at Syon Abbey in 1920, the vow of Sister Mary Paul was recorded in a beautiful script and decorated with a tiny illustration of a Bridgettine nun.

As it's #WorldCalligraphyDay, our #ObjectOfTheWeek is this lovely letter from Cromwell's mother Elizabeth, written in July 1643. It's probably the only example of her handwriting and signature - which is lovely and clear (unlike the notation below it!)

#CalligraphyDay. Dunblane Cathedral is adorned with beautiful calligraphy of Helen A Lamb (1893-1981), including illuminated memorial panels for 2 world wars. Her most widely known work is Cradle Roll (original on display in Dunblane Cathedral)

It's #WorldCalligraphyDay. Have a look at this page from Thornton's Book 1. She included a decorative header, above her title ("A Recollection of Memorable Accidents and Passages Forgotten"). It then gets a little messy with some additional insertions as she remembered something else.
