As a follow-up to Monday’s World Habitat Day, Our children in our Burton Latimer’s Oaks gorup explored our pocket park, spotted horses 🐴 (from afar!), and built dens for wild animal puppets.

📣On 6 October we marked the start of #UrbanOctober with the UN #WorldHabitatDay!
🌍Celebrated since 1986, it aims to reflect on the state of our habitats, to highlight the basic right of shelter for anyone and to remind us about our collective power & responsibility to change our urban future.
Three trees in the museum gardens, in varying shades of green, yellow, and red. The photo was taken in November 2024 and shows the lovely contrast of colours.
"Two thousand times the woods grew green, and ring-doves built their nests. Day and night for two thousand years—light and shadow sweeping over the mound—two thousand years of labour by day and slumber by night."

🏙️ On #WorldHabitatDay we highlight how #housing inequality shapes #climateustice in EUcities. ‼️ #Migrants + refugees are more likely to live in overcrowded, poorly insulated homes, increasing heat-related health risks and deepening social vulnerability. @icta-uab.bsky.social @bcnuej.bsky.social
Today is #WorldHabitatDay. Last year, Hailemariam Desalegn explained that habitat destruction is not only an environmental issue; it also threatens the economy, public health, national security, and global stability.

It’s #WorldHabitatDay 🌍 I’m grateful for a career working on nationally and internationally recognized ecosystem restoration projects, like the Mission Reach project pictured here. Let’s commit to preservation, protection, & restoration—for resilience & future generations. 🌱💚
🌎 Wildlife declines aren't the same everywhere.
For the first time, #LPRC2025 reveals how species are faring across Canada’s habitats.

This graphic includes a green overlay on an image of humans walking across a busy city street while traffic waits beside the crosswalk. The image is framed by an overhead view of a forest around the edges. Text overlay reads "October 06: World Habitat Day." The Samba Scientific logo is included.

Mayow Park Stag Beetle Loggery. Around 20 upright logs partly buried in the ground together with a sign describing what a stag beetle loggery is and why it is important. Trees, bushes and a carpet of ivy surrounds the loggery.
Stag beetles are incredible insects, and we love these gentle giants. But sadly their numbers are falling. To help this legally protected, priority species, London Project Manager, Lizzy, created this amazing loggery at Mayow Park. #WorldHabitatDay
