🎶Music, unity and global purpose filled the air as Rotary clubs hosted a spectacular #WorldPolioDay benefit concert at the world-renowned Culture and Congress Centre. The concert raised enough funds to vaccinate more than 100,000 children!

This Pittsburgher was 12 years old when he became one of the first children to receive the Salk inactivated polio vaccine in 1952.

Dr. Peter Salk, the eldest son of Dr. Jonas Salk, spoke about his father’s research to develop an inactivated polio vaccine. The slide shows images of his father and the scene on the day the vaccine was approved.

Hanan vaccinates a young child against polio

For over 10 years, Hanan has vaccinated children in her community against vaccine-preventable diseases like polio. “Whenever I saw a child smiling and finger marked, I was energized to keep moving,” she says.
