The Chronology in the Journal notes that "You became loved among fish and were treated as one of their own." (Apparently a benefit of having a fish pet).
A dialog box informs me that: You died. You were accidentally lased to death by the important fish. The last entry in the game log reads: The important fish hits you (x4) with a laser beam for 28 damage!
First time I tried playing Caves of Qud with one of the pets that are bonus content... I have learned that the important fish is not exactly a crack shot...
