It has been suggested that the architect based his design of the #Yenidze factory in #Dresden on the #AmirKhayrbak funerary complex in #Cairo ... and looking at these pictures here, I‘m willing to agree (the minarets have been restored as recently as 2006, second picture).

Here are a few more views of the complete building - hinting at something else behind the #Yenidze facade than what dome and minaret may suggest on first glance. 😉

Well, not quite. Or rather: Not as you‘d think.

Actually this is ... a factory building, early 20th century #IndustrialArchitecture.

It‘s the "#Yenidze Tobacco and Cigarette Factory" by Hugo Zietz, who imported tobacco from Ottoman Yenidze in Thrace (modern #Genisea, Greece).
