Looking toward the Sanmon Gate at Tokyo's Zojoji Temple, on a snowy winter's day. In the foreground, a female pedestrian wearing a kimono and geta carries an umbrella over her head as protection from the snow; she looks over her shoulder as a small dog crosses the street just behind her. Further on, other figures also carry umbrellas as they approach the impressive Sanmon Gate - tall, wide, and red-lacquered - leading into the Zojoji Temple grounds. Fresh snow lies across the street and the curving rooftops of the gate, and weighs down the branches of nearby wiry pine trees. The sky above is dark and overcast, and snow continues to fall across the scene.

@cakeswithfaces.bsky.social's Japanuary: architecture old vs. new. Why choose when you can have both? (but @datenagumo.bsky.social did it better 😉) #Tokyo #Japan #Zojoji #tokyotower #Japanuary25d18
