She's been in the job 6 months and hasn't bothered to reach out to the Black Philadelphians Descendant Community Group...aside from cornering @mxabdulaliy.bsky.social on her turf at the @americananthro.bsky.social conference #AAA2024Tampa saying she wants to talk in Philly.

If you're asking how 12-y.o. Delisha Africa's recently found remains were in @pennmuseum.bsky.social for so long without them acknowledging they had them, I speak to some of what we know about who in Penn's Anthropology Dept knew about the MOVE remains, when (~14:35 & ~26min in video). #AAA2024Tampa

For those at #AAA2024Tampa - and anyone interested in anti-capitalist movements, crowds and protest, music in sport, and sound studies - consider including Insurgent Fandom: An Ethnography of Crowds and Unruly Sounds by Max Jack in your post-conference orders/planning! global.oup.com/academic/pro...

There are ~2,600 anthropologists registered at #AAA2024Tampa. Which is actually down from 4,100 the year before. Florida has had a chilling effect.

But, the theme for #AAA2025Nola is "ghosts"

Sitting in a session on NAPA’s proposal of standards of practice for professional, practicing, & applied anthropologists. A really useful effort attempting to codify an anthro approach to knowledge, respect for subjects, self-reflexivity, limits, etc., for both anthros & clients.

Goodman: we need to be educating people about human variation at a much younger age. He suggests middle school as a perfect time for this. #AAA2024Tampa
