There are colleagues and then there are co-conspirators, and this year's #aarsbl23 was about finding out who's who.

Was Joseph and Potiphar's Wife Inspired by the Egyptian tale: Two Brothers? This is something you see in literature on the Joseph Story, and it came up a few times in #AARSBL23 papers.

BUT, I'm not sure the two stories are directly connected.

Thanks to @jonhatter.bsky.social for the pic. I love giving out handouts with all my primary texts so everyone can follow along, take notes if they want, & reference them later. Paula Fredriksen said she loves my handouts and she still has all of them. Honestly, that made my SBL. #AARSBL23

I was traveling yesterday, so here’s a belated #ToriiTuesday from my pilgrimage to Wurst Behavior in San Antonio during #AARSBL23! Confirmed: Asian fusion is delish, passionfruit sake slushee slaps, the vibe is neon pop culture, & the #torii is metal w a neon sign. Check it out if ur ever in town! ⛩️

Finally home after first #AARSBL23! Got to spend time with friends, make new ones, meet my favorite scholars, and of course, buy books. I attended every PwJ session, which got me so excited about what this field has accomplished and where it’s headed.

After 20 years of attending #aarsbl23 I’m still surprised that some speakers literally _read _ their papers. Just share it digitally if that’s your plan: I can read on my own.

#AARSBL23 folks, don't take too long at lunch today! Come to Pauline Epistles at 1pm. I made up a word and I'd love the chance to show how it's useful. I'll in part be analyzing the work of Scot McKnight. Hope to see you there!
