#adaywithhiv
When I was diagnosed with HIV twenty-three years ago, my first thought was "I'm going to die." I never thought about aging, much less "aging with HIV. Now at 58 (and being thisclose to 60), I want to change what I always thought being older and being HIV-positive means...
I have been living with HIV for over 30 years. Can't say life's been easy (because it wasn't), but I'm here in a loving long-term serodifferent relationship (I'm positive, he's not), and I'm still tick, tick, ticking along. 😉 #ADayWithHIV #HIV #hivlongtermsurvivor #nostigma #noshame #loveyourself
Resilience doesn’t always have a bright, shining smile. Sometimes resilience looks like determined, even grim, resolve. Same with #adaywithhiv
After 40 years living with HIV, I'm still kicking it and delivering a message. SILENCE=DEATH means standing up to policies that endanger our very lives. #ADayWithHIV
Photo taken just now of me, post-workout. Wearing a vest, a moustache and a smile. No filter.
I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when treatment was still new.
At the time I was told I could expect to live another 20 years.
27 years later I’m fit and healthy - and my medication means I can’t pass HIV on to sexual partners.
People with HIV aren’t a problem, stigma is.

During my 34 years of living with #HIV, it is taking time out in nature where I have been my happiest. Today's walk with my husband B to photograph fungi in Windsor Great Park.

March 20 is the #SpringEquinox, 1 of only 2 days in the year when the sun is directly above the equator, creating virtually equal day and night. The next equinox is on Sept. 22. What better day to fight #HIV stigma? #adaywithhiv.
(EUMETSAT weather satellite photo taken on the spring equinox.)

Wearing sunglasses, a flowery shirt and smiling. Religious masonry in the background.
Growing up gay in the 1980s / 90s I lost count of the friends who died of AIDS.
When I was diagnosed I thought that was how it would be for me.
Treatment changed everything.
Old age is a privilege denied to many. I recognise how lucky I am.
