I just read EYES OPEN by @lynmillerlachmann.bsky.social, a beautiful #VerseNovel. I like #HistoricalFiction that subtly teaches me something I didn't know (here, revolts again dictatorship in Portugal in the late '60s) via realistic characters caught up in historical events. #YALit #AdLit
I just read WHERE THE HEART SHOULD BE, a Kirkus-starred #VerseNovel by @sarahcrossan.bsky.social It's a compelling work of #HistoricalFiction with a clever title that works both literally and figuratively. #AdLit #YALit #Kirkus
I'm reading READING YOUNG ADULT LITERATURE from @broadviewpress.bsky.social. In the first chapter on the development of adolescence as a construct, Carrie Hintz and Eric L. Tribunella provide a great foundation for understanding how adolescent literature came to be. #AdLit #YALit #MGLit #ELA
I used to do a book club for incarcerated mothers. We read #kidlit and #adlit, books their children might be reading and they hadnt read as kids- Charlottes Web, Winn Dixie, Mouse & Motorcycle, Brown Girl Dreaming. The women had copies of the books and they would read them aloud in the barracks ❤️
@diannemurphy.bsky.social and @jamespmurphy.bsky.social will be on The Literacy View in October‼️We have the best season coming up!! #adlit
