5G robotic components remote controlled by a central factory AI are moving from the shelf to the floor worldwide even as you read this and if you're taking comfort from Boston Dynamics $100,000 autonomous robots, don't. These robotic hives are cheap.

When one says UBI everybody thinks of socialism but the rule of thumb is, in Western Civilization:
Nations, polities, are wealthy. People steward that wealth. That's an abstraction of #law and #capitalism as practiced.
And robots buy nothing.

A robot costing $30,000 depreciated over five years at 35,000 hours of work life could, at $10/hour fee generate $350,000 or $70,000/year minus capital of $5000/year. Estimates are for 500,000 deployed robots by 2027.
That's $3.25 billion/yr. for a #BasicIncome fund.

There is normally some talk about the composition of retail demand but rarely analysis of what it means or how pernicious or how addressed.

#disruption
There are transfers of wealth which are negotiated between individuals and groups. They are charitable or in pursuit of unsure long term gains or in support of national security.
We have a new one, #robotlabor to #aggregatedemand.
A #blog examining it...

For those not drowning in apathy a short essay on the necessity of a UBI.

The problem facing us with capable #robots and the #economicsingularity of robots making robots is maintaining sufficient #aggregatedemand to keep the wheels of commerce turning. The #economy could spiral into collapse because of diminishing demand. Some older #blogs...
The link on my profile works.
The driving force for #BasicIncome, while morality figures into it, is economic. Robots have minimal expenses but they don't particularly buy anything. The economy lives and dies on total demand or #aggregatedemand. We have to effect a logical transfer of wealth from robots to consumers to survive.
