Book #6 of the #BookJourney and I thought I’d sprinkle another classic in there as part of the attempt to expand the literary palate. #AgnesGrey by #AnneBronte. I will say that once you get used to the writing style classics are great for the reminder that people have always been people.

I longed to seek the retirement of my own room, or some sequestered nook in the grounds, that I might deliver myself up to my feelings—to weep my last farewell, and lament
my false hopes and vain delusions.

I loved #TheTenantOfWildfellHall last year, so I was in the mood for #AgnesGrey (thanx, library!). I wasn't ready for the 📈💔 amount of #AnimalAbuse, though (second family now. Is it over? 😰).

#WutheringHeights has been collecting dust at home for years. Did Anne call Emily? 😳

'What are your favourite flowers?'

'Primroses, bluebells, and heath-blossoms.'

'Not violets?'

'No; because, as you say, I have no particular associations connected with them; for there are no sweet violets among the hills and valleys round my home.'

At length, however, he broke the pause by asking, with a certain quiet abruptness peculiar to himself, if I liked flowers.

'Yes; very much,' I answered, 'wild-flowers especially.'

'I like wild-flowers,' said he; 'others I don’t care about.'

#AgnesGrey, the most autobiographical Brontë novel of them all. @nickholland.bsky.social discusses the ways in which the book reflects #AnneBrontë 's life & its influence on Jane Eyre, while proudly showing off his wedding ring. Loved it!
