An AI generated image of a white capsule-style pill with the wings, head and tail of a dove. It was generated by artist researcher and creative practitioner Lynn Wray as part of a series of community workshops imagining hypothetical and ideal pills.
A photo of white shelves of brightly coloured medicine packaging. They are imaginary pills in unusual shapes. A 3D printed version of the dove pill from the previous image is among them. A label calls them "Dove From Above" and explains "I would like a pill that could fly into my mouth whilst I'm asleep, so I don't forget to take my medication at the same time every morning." The other fantasy pills were imagined by participants in community workshops, some with AI and some with plasticine, before being 3D printed.
We did make some AI pills for this exhibition (images generated on Midjourney and then printed with a 3D printer), but this was specifically to interpret how generative AI and 3D printing are being used to develop new drugs. In this case the form fit the function. #AImuseumsMW
A giant yellow pill box labelled "AI Pills". A list of "side effects" on the side of the packaging reads: "Warning! Use of AI can lead to loss of control over personal data, loss of privacy, misleading data hallucinations, worsening of pre-existing bias, and lack of oversight and accountability. Always consider if the benefits outweigh the negative effects." No actual AI was used in the making of this pill box.
#MuseumWeek has AI as its first theme.
Medicine and healthcare is one of the few areas where large language models can clearly do a lot of good. But even so, it's worth exercising some caution. Hence the "side effects" warning on this box of "AI pills" from our You Choose exhibition. #AImuseumsMW
Today marks the start of #MuseumWeek2025. Today’s theme is AI and Museums. I asked Canva Magic Write to write me a short story about a fox visiting a museum, inspired by this fox on display at Bolton Museum. Please enjoy “A Fox’s Day at the Museum” 🦊🏛️ #AImuseumsMW
