As a progressive left leaning #Albertan I think this is huge progress. We can learn a great deal from #Europe.

This is an insult to any #Albertan who isn't #Christian like, ya know, yours truly, & even to some who are & don't believe in this BS.😠
Grand Chief #TrevorMercredi of #Treaty8 delivered a statement that should make every #Albertan pause. He warned that Premier #DanielleSmith ’s referendum proposals on #immigration and #sovereignty have created “conditions unsafe for #FirstNations” 🇨🇦 #Cdnpoli #ABpoli

Alberta Municipalities Strength In Members NEWS RELEASE Albertans' property taxes will go up because of Budget 2026 February 26, 2026 EDMONTON - AIberta Municipalities (ABmunis) has decided to say the quiet part out loud: Albertans will pay more property tax this year because of the Government of Alberta's decisions, as presented in this budget. The provincial government is telling Albertans that it won't increase taxes to pay for all the things it's funding in Budget 2026. That's misleading Budget 2026 shifts the tax burden to property taxes. It shifts responsibility from the provincial government t to municipalities and removes tax room for municipal priorities. We're concerned that hiding provincial tax increases in the property tax bills that municipal governments must collect will make life less affordable for those Albertans with lower or fixed incomes We're disappointed to see no funding increases for Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) in Budget 2026. By not investing in local prevention programs, the provincial government has missed a critical opportunity to change the trajectory of growing costs in systems that have been stretched to the breaking point - systems like healthcare, emergency services, and policing. The provincial government's decision to not enlarge the Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF) capital funding pot and other municipal infrastructure programs means urgently needed municipal infrastructure projects across Alberta will be postponed, delayed, deferred or cancelled. Unless additional funding is provided, Albertans can expect more failures to infrastructure in the coming years - costly events like broken water and sewer pipes and crumbling roads and bridges Furthermore, investments in municipal infrastructure are critical to enable further economic growth, Alberta's systemic provincial funding deficit has been an unresolved issue for more than 20 years. Alberta has a $16.9 billion tax advantage over other provinces. Despite …

#DanielleSmith and the #UCP just raised your taxes.
Every #Albertan will now pay MUCH higher #propertytaxes. It’ll be gathered by your municipality, but don’t be fooled - this is an increase in provincial taxes because it goes directly to the province.
But bye cocky surplus hello deficit. AGAIN!!
I stand with @charlieangus104.bsky.social! I've lived in #Alberta 50 of my 51 years on this part of this rock floating through nothingness
And I'll be goddamned if I have ANY part of it being given to fascists, for a pat on the head! I'm an #Albertan through and through
But I'm #Canadian FIRST! 🇨🇦
Wow. This guy is everything the world hates about 'Murica. AND HE PROPERLY LUMPS THE ALBERTANS IN WITH THEM
The #Albertan seperatists and 47's team are doing the SAME THING. ReAsserting the rights of the people who created CHATTEL slavery over everyone else #racist

As an #Albertan since ‘05 I have always & will always be a proponent of a tiny TWO PERCENT #PST! U won’t notice $2 on your $100 jeans $20 on your $1000 TV. Imagine the BILLIONS more we’d have for roads, schools, bridges, hospitals.
Talk of PST in AB is a political death sentence. Also: #TAXTHERICH
From an #albertan: no, we don't want to be annexed by the states.
Well, except these three dudes. All three of them. 🤣

I'm an #Albertan, but I'm #Canadian FIRST, I have ZERO interest in kowtowing to a demented fascist or his Conservative flying monkey fanboy counterpart in Ottawa.
How the #UCP over the last 2 years has made #Alberta, myself, my family and every other #Albertan vulnerable to #USA takeover. #Security #abpoli #cdnpoli #51State

In Alberta, with the conversation of separation and fighting that multi billion dollar misinformation campaign, many proud Albertans have a trend to say they are Cdn first and Albertan second. I’m loyal to the Dene first as that’s my kin, my spirit. I’m trying to honour the covenant of Treaties second, with the assumption The Crown signed in good faith. (They didn’t.) Third, I see myself as part of Canada BECAUSE the Treaties were signed by the Indigenous Peoples’ in good faith and Britain allowed the colony to be sovereign. As a Dene born in Moh’kins’tsis, I’m obligated to uphold the Blackfoot Confederacy and Treaty 7. I reject the Indian Act & man made lines of the provinces but again, that is the decision of the Crown. So when I see settlers say I’m Canadian first, and Albertan second, I realize, land acknowledgements did not compute with our settler Treaty partners. We have much work to do on education and reconciliation.

A special thanks to, and fellow #Albertan @swordgeek@mstdn.ca for the update.
Though no surprise, it's still a relief so far that the number of our countrymen remains so small, however inexcusable.

Im and #Albertan who is proudly #Canadian. I have no intention of allowing this marginal group to keep screwing us up. I believe they are blaming the WRONG government and if they paid attention would realize a lot of grievance SHOULD BE AGAINST THE #UCP. The refusal to allow #renewable #energy 1/
