She began pursuing her PhD because she wanted to create meaningful change by improving the education system beyond her own classroom. Throughout her program, Bonni has actively engaged with the broader community, meeting with state legislators and industry leaders to advocate for educational improvement. Most recently, she submitted a proposal to the Utah State Board of Education focused on increasing support for teachers and families as they help children build confidence in mathematics. Bonni’s commitment to connecting research, policy, and community needs makes her a truly deserving recipient of this award.
