Okay, so my writing teacher seemed to think it was extremely important to make a second book in a series as stand-alone as possible. You know, just assume that the person reading it will not read the first book in the series.

Anyone have an opinion on that?

Halfway through my final read through of The Wrong Kind of Smart.

This probably would be going by faster if I didn't frequently find myself falling asleep at my computer, but hey, the joys of being an indie author and the father of a toddler, I guess. 😅

The centerpiece was a rocket from Earth. The hyperdrive was external and half the size of the Scimitar and probably couldn’t go a third as fast. She wondered how long it had taken them to get from Earth to Rigel? How nuts had they gone, nothing but the eerie weft and warp of hyperspace outside?

The only mention of Earth in my manuscript. I so want to call it "Earth-That-Was"

Currently spell checking The Wrong Kind of Smart.

It makes me cringe to have to add the word "unalived" to my personal dictionary. The fact we have to use it makes me want to slap the nearest advertiser. But a certain joke or two doesn't work if I don't use the word, so...

3/4 done with the second draft of The Wrong Kind of Smart. I'm still having to renumber the chapters, but I think a lot of the continuity is fixed at this point in the editing process
