The 1782 design suggested a United States which defaulted to peace but was ready to defend itself.

By deleting the olive branch, it says the default now is...nothing. An image of inadequacy. (I expect they didn't understand the symbolism.)

Finished my February #AmRev250 reading prompt today, completing 4 biographies; Stoll & Schiff’s work on Samuel Adams, Unger’s Hancock, and Di Spigna’s Joseph Warren. Enjoyed the first 7/8 of Schiff’s Sam Adams, but the last bit felt extremely rushed after April 1775. #RevWar250
