Francesca Woodman was an American photographer known for her black-and-white self-portraits. Despite her short career, which ended with her suicide at the age of 22, Woodman produced over 800 untitled prints. Influenced by Surrealism and Conceptual Art, her work often featured recurring symbolic motifs such as birds, mirrors, and skulls. The artist’s exploration of sexuality and the body is often compared to both Hans Bellmer and Man Ray. Woodman’s work is also characterized by her use of long shutter speed and double exposure, the blurred image creating a sense of movement and urgency, “Am I in the picture? Am I getting in or out of it? I could be a ghost, an animal or a dead body, not just this girl standing on the corner …?” Woodman once stated. Born on April 3, 1958 in Boulder, CO to the artists George and Betty Woodman, she went on to attend the Rhode Island School of Design and traveled to Rome as part of its honors program in 1977. While in Rome, she made some of her most poetic and provocative works. Moving to New York in 1979 to pursue a career in photography, the next two years proved to be troubled for the artist. A lackluster response to her photography and a failed relationship pushed her into a deep depression. The artist jumped to her death from a loft window on January 19, 1981 in New York, NY. Though she had few opportunities to show work during her life, Woodman has been the subject of numerous posthumous solo exhibitions, including “Francesca Woodman. On Being an Angel,” which opened in 2016 at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and 2018s Life in Motion: Egon Schiele/ Francesca Woodman at Tate Liverpool in the United Kingdom.

An Angel series parody comic I drew entitled "It's a very very mad world" In panel 1, Lorne and Cordelia are sitting in a karaoke bar. Lorne says "Ok, Cordy, we'll see what kind of reading I get from Angel's singing this time." Off-panel Angel is singing Mad World, by Tears for Fears and the lyrics are written above, like so: "All around me are familiar faces, worn out places worn out--" Panel 2 is a closeup of Angel standing onstage, throwing his head back dramatically and belting out the lyrics into the microphone. The lyrics are: "And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad! The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had! I find it hard to tell you---" Panel 3 is an over-the-shoulder shot of Lorne and Cordelia and in the mid-ground we can see some other people and a dew demons sitting at the tables, with Angel in the background onstage. He finishes the song with a flourish: "Maaaaad Worrrrrld!" Lorne says "Huh. I really thought he'd do the Donnie Darko version."

A parody comic of the Angel series entitled "Angel: The Neverending Fall." It takes place at the very end of the Angel series. Panel 1 shows Spike and Illyria in Hell, with flames surrounding them and a tentacled creature coming out of an alleyway behind them. Spike looks annoyed as he nonchalantly says "Welp. Certainly does suck down here in Hell." Illyria is pointing up at the sky and says "Wait. . Angel appears to be riding a dragon!" Panel 2 shows a closeup of Angel straddling the dragon's neck just behind its head as he shouts "WHEEEEEE!" While throwing his arms up in sheer delight as if he's riding a luck dragon in The Neverending Story. Panel 3 is an over-the-shoulder shot of Spike and Illyria in the foreground with burning city buildings in the background. The tiny, distant figure of the dragon can be seen flying over them as Angel shouts "Woohoo!" Illyria says "At least someone's having fun." Spike clenches his fists and says "Dammit! Why does that bugger always get everything?!"

A parody comic from the Buffy spinoff series Angel titled "Femuhnism." The first panel shows Lilah, one of the villains who has long hair and a scarf around her neck. She says "Well, it sucks that I died, but at least I left behind a legacy of being a woman who climbed to the top of an evil corporation by using her brains and tough-as-nails fortitude---" Someone off-panel says "Hey Lilah! Have you met your replacement?" Panel 2 shows some ditzy woman with her arms around some sleazy chud with pierced ears and shitty 90's hair. I have no idea who these characters are anymore and I don't give a damn. Ditzy woman says "I don't care if I'm a tool of the Patriarchy as long as I can be with my boyyyyfriend!" Sleazy chud says "Hurr." The final panel shows Lilah clenching her fists and screaming with rage, her eyeballs bulging out as she screams "FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU"

Old Buffy--no, Angel comic #8. So this one's from the Angel series and fuck, I don't even remember who these characters are and I am NOT about to watch it again to try to find out. Once was more than enough.

The Buffy parody comic I drew called "Angel the Deep Champion." In the first panel, Angel and Spike are arguing and Angel points to himself and says "You may have a soul, Spike, but you'll never be as DEEP as me!" Spike says "Deep??" In panel 2 Spike says "I'm a bloody maestro when it comes to emotions and matters of the heart. I see the truth and lay it out straight in the open when everyone else is too daft or blind to notice, oh, and I wanted to get my soul back so I went and endured unspeakable torment until I earned it . . . and my soul was so powerful it collapsed the hellmouth and saved the sodding world. What makes you deeper than that?" In the last panel Angel leans forward, eyes closed, looking smug and says "I can do Tai-Chi." Spike yells "DAMMIT!"

Old Buffy comic upload #5. Hot take: the Angel spinoff series would have been so much better as a satire, making fun of Angel instead of trying to cast him as a serious, believable protagonist.
