An antique handpainted demitasse porcelain cup and saucer. It is trimmed in gold at the edges and painted with tiny blue flowers. It's beautiful. Wealthy and upper middle class / upperclass ladies used to handpaint entire sets of China in the 1920's. It was a status symbol and showed off one's painting abilities. I'm sure it was also meant to highlight that they were ladies of leisure and did not have to work or do housework.

This wonderful John Meir 1850s meat platter has had an accident and been repaired using iron staples, which were heated up and put into pre-drilled holes, and as they cooled, would tighten and hold indefinitely.
