It was a lovely bike-and-dog-chat with someone from my community. This kind of thing happens a lot when I’m out on my bike! 🚲

Riding a bike allows these little moments of connection that you don’t get when driving a car.

Looking down into the front cargo bag on my cargo e-bike. Inside a felt divider there are three little tubs of gelato and three water bottles.

On this beautiful hot and sunny Waitangi Day three of us rode our bikes over to Gelato Lab in Opawa and sat in the shade in nearby Hansen Park.

Front entrance of Chemist Warehouse. There’s a bike rack there, so they’re trying, but it’s only good for narrow wheeled bikes (not frame lock bikes, cargo bikes, or probably most modern bikes) and it’s not secured to ground. My cargo e-bike and a tern cargo e-bike are parked in front but not able to be secured to it. There’s also a lime scooter left there.

Today, day 5 of #AotearoaBikeChallenge I had to stop at 2 big box stores*
My trip:
-Separated cycle lane bliss 🤌🏼
- Durham St painted bike lane blocked by car, driver on phone. I knocked on her window & informed her she was blocking the lane 😑
- Chemist Warehouse terrible bike racks, email sent

Silly #AotearoaBikeChallenge question: I took my kid out for a coffee/drink at a cafe along our shared path. Of course I rode my bike... The destination was more the point than the journey, but both were factors. When logging the trip purpose in the bike challenge, is it Fun & Fitness or Transport?

I feel like the Bike Challenge is just unfair for smaller cities. Biking to the other end of town is like 3km here in Ōtepoti Dunedin 😁 #aotearoabikechallenge
