The #aotearoabirds feed has been going great lately, full of #kākāpō and #pūtangitangi content!
I feel like some other birds need representation though, more #kakaruai please! 😄
Otago shag
First time we've seen an Otago shag here in the gardens. It let me get right up close for a photoshoot.

Fantail singing while jumping
This fantail was flying all around us in the Ōamaru Public Gardens for at least 20 minutes. Got some incredible shots of it in motion, and stopping its little angry feet!

Kyle the shag is in wing spreading posture
We took some peas down to the park this evening to feed our pūtangitangi (and the mallards). It took them a little while to get it, but they decided that peas are delicious!

#Aotearoabirds 🇳🇿🦜 We have a kaka who comes to visit our deck and garden bird feeder most days. Last couple of days it’s started to tap on the window and lick it to get our attention. ‘Please, kinI’ve some apple? I knows you’re in there’…
Kākā (native to Aotearoa), mostly in flight, traced in Inkscape from GIMP-cleaned images from various different sources.
#AotearoaBirds I found some pictures of kākā from various different sources that had near-uniform backgrounds (e.g. sky), and converted them to B&W silhouettes:

The most shagalicious spot in Ahuriri.
Little toutouwai perched on a mossy tree.
Popokotea clinging to a pine branch, hanging upside down. Pine branches in the foreground and back ground.
Sleeping shag (cormorant) on a branch just above the water, reflected in the perfectly still water below.
Hihi amongst the foliage, partially illuminated by a shaft of sunlight.
Also some obliging #aotearoabirds as well! Particularly fond of the shot of the wee popokotea amongst the pine branches and the mirrored shag (ooerr!).
