Silent is what you are It stains your lips red Blood crawling from your lungs Silence clings to you like soot It dances like the other shadows on the wall Those you're too afraid to watch. Silent is what you do Because you choke on your fear It claws deep inside your throat Words whispered in your ear, in your mind It holds you like a deadly embrace And yet it's better than the alternative Silent is what you once weren't Talking, babbling, laughing Too many words into too many ears your feelings are too manyfold for the form you claimed And their eyes they ooze judgement, anger, disapproval. If you had just been silent, they would not have thrown you away. So you're silent now. And what's left is to pray.
