I've been celebrating Autism Acceptance Month the entire time I've been making this comic, and this is the first year it's felt that there's been a noticeable step back. I've had to delete more hateful comments lately. I've had to block more people lately. More and more, I feel like I'm throwing my work at a brick wall because it's just not being shown to anyone despite having more followers than ever!

I hit 28,000 followers recently, and yet I've had followers tell me they haven't seen any of my work in months, even though I post here 3 times a week! It feels like fighting a losing battle, and it's burning me out, but I'm going to keep going. Autistic voices deserve to be heard, and I refuse to be quiet. I may not advocate in the same ways as others, I don't have the confidence or assertion to face people head on, but I'm doing what I can. I'm doing what I'm good at.

My hope is that my little comics continue to entertain and help people. To show people the autistic experience. I call my comic Autie-Biographical because I see it as an autistic biography. An autobiographical view of our autistic experience. Not just mine, OURS. May things get better, but until then, let's fight to make our voices heard.

[Image description: A three panel comic of Honeydew trying to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month. The comic is titled "Steps Back" and is made by Theresa Scovil.

Panel 1:
Honeydew raises their fist in the air, and cheerfully shouts "Happy Autism Acceptance Month!"
Panel 2:
Off-panel people yell "Vaccines! Tylenol! Autism Epidemic! Cure!"
Honeydew looks shocked as they lower their fist.
Panel 3:
Honeydew looks irritated as they raise their fist a little bit, and sarcastically says "Hurray... I love it when progress gets knocked back..."]

Fanart of Autie-Biographical's character, Honeydew, who looks happy. They are wearing a green long-sleeve shirt (rainbow infinity symbol printed on it) and pants. While the background has a couple yellow sparkles scattered everywhere, the upper-half has a rainbow tint/gradient + a rainbow infinity symbol (ActuallyAutistic) while the lower half has a yellow gradient + a golden infinity symbol (Light It Up Gold).
