Day 47 of paining a new species daily. Todays subject is the Bacteria Clostridium scindens. C. scindens is a Gram-positive, obligate anaerobic, pleiomorphic, spore-forming bacterium belonging to the genus Clostridium. It has been found in humans as a commensal colonizer of the colon. C. scindens is capable of converting primary bile acids to secondary bile acids, as well as converting glucocorticoids to androgens.
