Yesterday evening, Parks Canada Fire Crew responded to reports of a small fire near Lake Edith. The fire was started by a discarded cigarette butt. The 1ft x 1ft fire was contained and extinguished quickly, but serves as a reminder that fires can still start and spread even under moderate fire danger.

This is why (cancer causing) smoking needs to be banned (and very heavily fined) in ALL PUBLIC areas and especially parks and natural areas. #bansmoking
