Caleb didn't seem upset; he was smiling. At least until his gaze came to Brock, then the expression fell completely. He didn't look away from Brock, like he categorized every single flaw visible to the naked eye. Brock had plenty of them, but did Caleb really need to make him feel so small? Especially when Brock had six inches on him.
Brock got enough of that from his own family. He took a step forward. βI can't believe you're here."
He didn't know why he'd said it. The words had just fallen out of his mouth. He was sure all the other sounds in the room had stopped. That couldn't actually be true. No, his teammates were still talking among themselves.
Caleb stared at him for so long Brock wasn't sure Caleb would acknowledge he'd spoken, then he took a step forward. βHey, Brock. It's been a long time.β
Technically, this isn't the first moment Caleb and Brock meet. It's hard not to know of someone when you grow up in the same small town. This is the first time they've come face to face(off the baseball field) in three years, though.
