BATS - Part 25
After getting my 3rd round of rabies shots, I went to the punk rock show. I couldn't drink though, because of the shots.
As I baked in the sun listening to Pennywise, I noticed someone sitting in front of me. His shirt...

BATS - Part 20
Returning to our trailer home in Maple Valley, we find the garden overgrown and returned to nature. But its a lot easier to baby-proof an empty house.

BATS - Part 18
I catch some bats perched up in the crook of the chimney in the attic. Wearing gloves and using trash grabbers, I nabbed four of them and got them into a bucket.
They were Little Brown Bats or Yuma Myotis, as I would find later.

BATS - Part 15
Okay - so its early July, 2023.
Our son is 7 months old. Napping.
We are making lunch.
A bat gets in. Middle of the day. Flying around.
It lands on the 'Addams Family' Chandelier, its chirps toying with us like laughter.

BATS - Part 14
With piles of poop building up in our gutters, our first bat expert showed up to help. From a national chain, he quoted us outlandish numbers, and told us:
"This is the worst residential infestation I've ever seen."
We were merose.

BATS - Part 13
Undeterred , our friends came to stay with us, and slept in the basement.
Unfortunately, this meant we swapped germs. We were all bed ridden and violently ill.

Here's video of bats coming out. They shoot out in pairs. #bestfriendgoals.

Then, one fateful night. We figured it out. My Mother-in-Law saw something out the window. Running outside, we saw them, the bats, shooting out in waves. There were multiple hundreds. We lost count.

Sleeping in the guest bed in the attic, my sister-in-law heard noises. Scratching in the walls. Together with my wife, they bought glue traps and set them in the crawlspaces.
No mice on their watch!

Hiking, fishing, living, the world was wonderful. We were comfortable, settling in. Robby was learning to crawl, coached by his best friend Teddy (our tuxedo cat)
The attic was a great spot to hang out. We even put the TV up there.

We LOVED our new neighborhood, the stunning #DeceptionPass - and all the nearby beaches. Even the tulips were in full bloom!

We moved in, it was great! Here, my wife Mackenzie is overloaded with joy! This place felt spectacular.
That first night, embracing in the attic, watching the sailboats in the evening light. "This is either the smartest or dumbest thing we ever did."

Sure, our new house looked like the haunted house from my childhood, but we don't believe in ghosts. Besides, it will be super fun to decorate on Halloween!

By pure coincidence, while closing on the house, we received a hand-me-down onsie. Bats and everything. We had no idea about the situation in the home we were buying. Here, my wife Mackenzie holds baby Robby in full bat attire.

Okay Bluesers! I'm going to sit down and tell you all about the story of my family, buying a house filled with bats.
In early 2023, with a young infant to care for, my wife and I felt an urgent need for more space. We found this Victorian masterpiece!
