"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more..."
⚔️ #OTD in #History 25 October 1415, at the #BattleOfAgincourt, the English forces of #HenryV used their longbows to defeat the numerically superior French forces commanded by #ConstableCharlesdAlbret.
A dramatic 19th-century battle scene with soldiers clashing near a river under stormy skies, smoke rising from gunfire and cannon blasts.
This incredibly lopsided victory would draw comparisons to the #BattleofAgincourt in which hapless French knights, bogged down by mud, were mowed down by English longbowmen; now it had been the British who had gallantly but needlessly thrown their lives away before the American cannons and rifles.
