Arschlecker - image: Christian Hetey

Christian Hetey has moved a lot among the political left-wing subculture in Berlin. These, usually younger, people organize: peoples kitchens, concerts, information evenings, theater, demonstrations and much more. Christian was able to experience and photograph how left-wing people live and where they meet. Several of these photos have appeared on postcards. This photo shows a courtyard of a left-wing house in Rigaerstraße in Berlin-Friedrichshain. On the left in summer time and on the right in winter time.

Do you ever notice that, despite long conversations or lots of writing, your #message doesn't get across? Try sending a #postcard. It takes very little effort, but it brings great delight. www.ohoh.store/p/arschlecker

Berlin, Straußberger Platz - image: Thomas Hausstein

For over fifteen years, Thomas Hausstein had a photography store in Berlin-Friedrichshain with its own black and white workshop and photo studio. Thomas was responsible for wedding photography and took portraits. When not in the shop, Thomas was riding his motorcycle across the country or taking photos in the city of Berlin. The store was a warm meeting point for photography enthusiasts and passport photo customers. In 2017, Thomas Hausstein closed his business because he felt that the store entailed too many responsibilities and too little fun with photography. Today in his spare time Thomas manages to enjoy photography again.

A man in traditional Bolivian costume during the parade of Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin, Germany 2025. - image: Michel Meijer

Every year on Pentecost weekend, “Karneval der Kulturen” takes place in Berlin Kreuzberg. People, mainly from non-Western European countries but living in Berlin, express their original culture. Various stages host dance, music and theatre performances. There is also a market where traditional food and objects are sold. All participants are amateurs and work on a voluntary basis. The highlight is the parade that passes through Kreuzberg on Sunday afternoon. Until this year, the parade always passed through Kreuzberg. But this time the parade was held in Friedrichshain and Mitte for the first time.

In each of these themes, she manages to find and capture special moments. Moments that fascinate and enchant the viewer. Moments that can only be made visible with a photo camera.
